Cortado Herringbone brings through a deeper, richer oak tone with plenty of natural variation running across the boards. Sitting firmly on the darker and warmer side of the range, it creates a more grounded and traditional feel compared to lighter or more neutral finishes.
The herringbone layout gives that character even more presence. Changes in tone, grain movement and natural markings become more noticeable through the pattern, which helps the floor feel full of depth and texture without looking overly engineered or artificial. Knots and grain detail are visible throughout, giving the floor a more authentic, lived-in appearance that works particularly well in character properties and warmer interior schemes.
The lacquered finish keeps the surface practical for day-to-day living while still allowing the richness of the oak to come through naturally. It helps maintain a more even appearance across the floor without flattening the variation that gives Cortado its personality.
Because of its warmer tone, Cortado works especially well in spaces where you want the flooring to add contrast and weight. It pairs naturally with lighter walls, softer neutral furnishings, darker joinery and more traditional design features where pale or heavily washed finishes can sometimes feel too cold or understated.
The slightly smaller 360mm herringbone blocks create a tighter and more detailed layout, which suits hallways, living spaces, dining rooms and feature areas particularly well. The pattern adds structure and movement across the floor, while the richer oak tones stop it feeling too formal or clinical.
Like the rest of the engineered collection, Cortado is built with a substantial 3mm real oak wear layer. That means the floor can be sanded and refinished in the future if needed, helping protect the long-term lifespan of the product.
If you like the tone and character of Cortado but prefer a more open, flowing layout, there is also a matching plank version available. The plank format carries the same warmth and variation through longer boards, giving a slightly more contemporary overall feel while retaining the same depth of colour and natural character.
As always, it’s worth seeing the floor in your own home before making a final decision. Free samples are available so you can compare the tone, grain and variation against your lighting, furnishings and surrounding finishes.
